Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said at the 17th Cooperation Forum that recent events had shown that open sea lanes cannot be taken for granted, and that safe and open waterways depend on international law and cooperation among countries. 

Experts say peer pressure, emotional distress and instability at home can contribute to such offences.

The drugs were discovered after Police Coast Guard officers boarded the commercial vessel following a tip-off about suspicious packages.

The Padang has hosted the National Day Parade for major milestones from the inaugural celebration in 1966 to Singapore's 60th year of independence in 2025.

The campaign will run each Saturday from Aug 29 to Dec 19 at participating merchants at heartland shops, wet markets, coffee shops and hawker stalls.
